Goodnight Godbless Goodbye (unreleased studio version)

from The Clouds That Break The Sky by Band Of Holy Joy

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Long unavailable and much of it never on compact disc, The Clouds That Break The Sky gathers up all of the early releases issued on records bearing Band Of Holy Joy’s name alone.

The 41 tracks presented here on three CDs originate from their debut studio album, More Tales From The City, a series of live recordings released as an album called When The Stars Come Out To Play, the 10” EP The Big Ship Sails, and three singles / EPs - Had A Mother Who Was Proud - And Look At Me Now, Who Snatched The Baby and Rosemary Smith, some of which were released in both 7” and 12” formats. These recordings are augmented by four previously unreleased alternate studio versions of songs that turned up in different form on their debut album.

The boxed set is in a clamshell box, each CD housed in its own sleeve, and comes with a 12-page booklet.

The Clouds That Break The Sky precedes the release of a new album, Funambulist We Love You, which is out this autumn, as well as numerous live appearances throughout the UK and continental Europe.

about

Band Of Holy Joy London, UK

Among the most uncompromising bands of the last few decades, Band Of Holy Joy drifted from experimental music to the folk music of an industrial age and cabaret until - after a brush with fame on Rough Trade - they embraced a poetical lyricism steeped in social consciousness and wordplay worthy of the Beat Generation, all set against majestic tunes and the clarion call of vocalist Johny Brown. ... more
